    Production using independent technology

    In the upstream of LEDs, patents have always been a sensitive issue. At present, both Taiwan and the mainland are plagued by different key patents in the hands of foreign manufacturers. Mr. Zhou said that the production technology used by Jingdian is completely independent research and development, and no foreign patents have been used. Jingdian itself has a batch of patents. For the patented chips, Jingdian is produced by OEM, that is, customers need to contain The chips of other companies' patents can be called foundry of the wafer, and the patent problems are solved by the customers themselves.

    Mr. Zhou told us that the lumen efficiency of the power LED chip production of Crystal Power is 80-90 lumens per watt, and the laboratory efficiency is 100-110 lumens per watt. In contrast, Cree's laboratory efficiency is currently 161 lm / W, mass production is 102 lm / w, according to the author's understanding, many domestic chip manufacturers claim that their mass production efficiency can reach 80 lm / W.

    Focus on chip and epitaxial wafer manufacturing

    At present, some companies in the industry chain have adopted a vertical integration approach, covering the entire industry chain, such as Osram, Philips, etc., while some companies focus on a certain link, crystal power is one of them, although they have done in the chip field. In this regard, Zhou said that there is no intention to do packaging, their customers are packaging manufacturers, if the crystal itself is also packaged, it may affect the cooperation with customers. He further pointed out that although Jingdian did not make packages and lamps, it actively communicated with midstream and downstream manufacturers to understand their needs and then decided on chip production and development plans.

    It is reported that Jingyuan Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. is currently the world's largest red light factory and the fourth largest blue LED factory, and its comprehensive production capacity ranks second in the world.

    Out of the shadow of the financial crisis, the prospects are promising

    Affected by the financial tsunami, Taiwan's LED industry in 2008 changed from a shortage of supply at the beginning of the year to overcapacity in the second half of the year. Mr. Zhou introduced that in the first quarter of this year, Jingdian’s turnover fell to 400 million yuan (Taiwan dollar, the same below). Before the financial crisis, it was 800 million yuan, but now the industry boom is recovering, in June and July. It has reached 1.2 billion yuan. He particularly emphasized that the increase in demand is mainly due to the continuous penetration of LED backlights into the display industry. When asked if future turnover will continue to grow, he said that as a listed company, it is not convenient to make financial predictions, but he repeatedly stressed that the demand for LED backlights is still very strong in the future.

    He told reporters that the main market of Jingdian is in Taiwan, providing chips to several major packaging factories in Taiwan, followed by the mainland, South Korea and Japan. The reason is that the chip of the crystal power is mainly used in the backlight, and the demand for LED backlight chips in the display industry in Taiwan is huge.

    May invest further in the mainland

    Not long ago, according to Taiwan media reports, Taiwan’s second largest out-of-stock plant, which is second only to Jingdian, is preparing to open an epitaxial plant in the mainland, planning to set up more than 50 epitaxial growth equipment, and the production capacity will far exceed the existing capacity of Taiwan’s Yuanyuan. Will there be similar plans for Jingdian? Mr. Zhou said that the issue of further investment in the mainland is under consideration. The planning team of Jingdian is negotiating all over the mainland to understand the local preferential policies and industrial support, and it is possible to further invest in the mainland in the future.

    It is understood that Jingyu Optoelectronics (Xiamen) Co., Ltd., which invested in Quanyuan Optoelectronics at the beginning of this year, started construction in Xiamen. At the beginning of Jingyu Optoelectronics, it will be mainly red, yellow and yellow, and will expand to the production of blue-green LED products in the future.
