Audio Precision Announces New APx500 4.2 and Introduces Advanced PDM Module

Audio Precision, the authoritative and leading manufacturer of 21ic audio and audio testing, today announced the audio test software APx500 4.2 and a new PDM module with advanced features. AP's new release software adds a range of features that focus on electroacoustic and production test environments, including custom subsequences, input equalization adjustments, and dedicated production test modes.

Powerful features for electroacoustic systems and production testing

The new APx500 4.2 test software is designed for electroacoustic system testing of speakers, headphones and microphones, as well as production test environments. APx's built-in automatic engine "Sequencer" feature is upgraded to support multiple sequences in a single project and sequence loop. The new software also enables sub-sequences such as "golden device" testing or microphone calibration to be customized for the application.

The new software allows users to apply equalization curves, process input signals, and perform speaker and microphone tests. Input curves can be edited, exported, imported, and selectively applied to available input channels.

The APx500 version 4.2 adds a dedicated production test mode to address specific manufacturing environment needs. The test system administrator can create a specific project for the device and convert the system to a cryptographically protected production mode. System operators can then select projects, initiate tests, and generate reports through a streamlined user interface, but operators must not change projects or parameters. Existing users can download the new APx500 4.2 version from the Audio Precision Chinese website at cn.ap.com.

PDM (Pulse Density Modulation) based components are an important part of audio equipment such as Class D amplifiers and headphones and wearable electronics. Based on the success of previous PDM modules, Audio Precision has introduced a new PDM module that enables jitter tolerance testing and supports low logic levels to meet the evolving needs of developers. Improvements include hardware jitter generation (bit clock and data lines), jitter analysis of the input bit clock, low logic levels of at least 0.8V, and more flexible decimation ratios and interpolation ratios.

Dave Schmoldt, CEO of Audio Precision, said: "Every new release highlights the power and diversity of the Audio Precision audio test software and the APx family of analyzers. The APx500 version 4.2 software not only retains its simple and intuitive user interface, but also A new range of versatile features has been added for electroacoustic and production test applications. At the same time, AP will offer a free upgrade to the software."
