Jiangsu UHV construction speeds up and gradually realizes “far-electrolysis near thirst”

Faced with the tight Power Supply situation, Jiangsu Province continued to push forward the construction of UHV power grids and gradually realized “far-earth electrolysis”.

It has always been the primary issue of power supply and demand in Jiangsu Province that the power supply can meet the needs of rapid economic development. This year, the economy of Jiangsu has obviously recovered. The stabilization of industrial operations has led to an increase in the production and use of electricity. The expansion of urban infrastructure construction and the start-up and commissioning of a number of large-scale electricity projects have become "forceful" factors in boosting the growth of electricity demand.

To make up for the gap in electricity consumption, in addition to strengthening the orderly management of electricity consumption, it is basically to increase the power supply. Compared to the large-scale external dispatch of coal, long-distance transmission of electricity has become a choice to break the bottleneck of transportation and logistics costs. In the current situation of tight electricity supply, UHV power grids that can transport electric power over large distances over a long period of time are even more concerned by the community during the peak of summer electricity consumption.

At present, Jiangsu is stepping up the construction of Sichuan Jinping Hydropower Station to the Suzhou UHV project. According to Wu Jianhong, Director of the UHV Construction Division of the Infrastructure Department of Jiangsu Electric Power Company, Sichuan Jinping Hydropower Station to Suzhou UHV Project is the highest voltage DC transmission project in China. It passed through Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Chongqing, Hunan, Hubei, Anhui, and Zhejiang and finally reached Jiangsu Province. Because it is a direct line to Jiangsu, Sichuan Hydropower will not make any "pause" in the long-distance transmission, so the loss will also be minimal.

It is reported that at present the foundation of the project line has been completed and electric towers have been erected. It is expected that between October this year and April next year, the project's transmission lines will be completed. By June of next year, it will initially send electricity to Jiangsu, and by March 2013, it will transmit electricity to Jiangsu Province at a voltage of 800 kilovolts.

It is understood that in the next few years, Jiangsu Province will also build a number of power projects with the main goal of sending electricity to Jiangsu in energy-rich Shanxi, Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia. Through these power grid projects, together with Other planned U.S. UHV projects, by 2015, the province's outreach calls will reach about 28 million kilowatts, and during the 12th Five-Year Plan period, about 20 million kilowatts will be added, through UHV projects. The construction will gradually achieve "far-electrolysis near thirst."
