Japan has developed an OLED lighting device with a luminous efficiency of 30 lm/W

Japan's Showa Denko KK (SDK) released a press release on July 28, announcing that the company has increased the light extraction efficiency of OLED (organic EL) devices to about 40% by adopting new structures (new technologies). The highest level in the world. According to the press release, with the new technology, the luminous efficiency of the phosphorescent O LED device currently under development has increased to 30 lm/W, reaching the highest level in the world. It is expected that the device will be widely used in OLED lighting and other applications.

The press release also pointed out that the company will also cooperate with US non-profit research institutions SRI International and Itochu Plastics Inc to jointly improve the structure of the above devices, and expects to sell samples for the lighting market in 2010.

In addition, Showa Denko plans to increase the luminous efficiency of the device to 150 lm/W and white brightness to half life of 50,000 hours by 2015.
