Recently, the domestic VR manufacturer Birdie took a look at the release of the VR all-in-one Pico Neo Developer Edition. Its founder and CEO Zhou Hongwei accepted an interview with Netease Technology, expounding PICO's exploration and entrepreneurial path for the VR machine.
What kind of VR product form can bring the best experience?
From the current market point of view, in addition to VR mobile phone boxes, as well as PC-level VR devices such as HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, more and more manufacturers began to force VR mobile one. Zhou Hongwei said that consumers need mobile and portable VR products, but at the same time they must be light, convenient and comfortable to wear. Zhou Hongwei told Netease Technology that he hopes that Android N and Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 will join forces to create a VR system-level standard platform.
Zhou Hongwei believes that in the future, VR mobile phone boxes and all-in-ones will coexist, but the differentiation of the two is coming soon. That is to make the weight of the VR machine within 100g, the resolution is getting higher and higher, and the VR mobile phone box will be gradually eliminated due to professional problems.
Backed by Qualcomm in the second half of the year mainly to do VR content development

It is reported that on the PC side, Pico Neo is compatible with open platforms such as Steam VR and so on. In terms of mobile video, Zhou Hongwei revealed to Netease Technology that PICO has already cooperated with China Digital and iQiyi to convert 3D video content to VR video. In terms of games, PICO will provide developers with autonomous SDKs. In addition, PICO Neo has fully supported the Qualcomm SDK, and the subsequent addition of Android N is beneficial to the establishment of the VR open ecosystem in the industry.

Among them, the VR all-in-one processor is not ideal, which became the cause of PICO's later cooperation with Qualcomm.
Zhou Hongwei said that in the long run, mobile VR is the future form, and it is still dominated by PC-level VR. In the development of product form, VR machine will develop in the direction of light, comfortable and smarter, and good product form will cultivate the market.
According to Zhou Hongwei, NetEase Technology revealed that the PICO project currently only has angel round financing, which was invested by the founders. This year, there will be plans to do A round of financing, and are looking for partners.
