A jetpack-driven arcade shooting game designed specifically for virtual reality games.
Ubisoft today released a new VR arcade shooting game "Space Junkies" and described it as "a jetpack-driven arcade shooter designed specifically for virtual reality games."
Ubisoft said that "Space Junkies" is a fast-paced multiplayer game featuring a three-dimensional "orbital arena" where players can enjoy shooting pleasure in a microgravity environment. The game will land Oculus Rift (requires Touch) and htc vive in the spring of 2018.
This VR game was developed by Ubisoft Montpellier Studios (Lehman series). Players will play 1v1 or 2v2 in the “Dirty Bowlâ€. The so-called Dirty Bowl refers to a series of orbital arenas. Dynamically respond to player movements and allow them to navigate and attack from any direction.†Weapons in the game can be customized and blended with the emphasis that players can upgrade their attack tactics.
During the development of the experience, Ubisoft Montpellier Studios has developed a new engine that supports VR. Ubisoft stated that the new engine named Brigitte aims to "transition to and adapt to the way in which the world can now be created for VR, as well as the new VR user interface during development and map creation."
Adrian Lacey, game producer at Ubisoft's Montpellier Studios, said: "Space Junkies is a game designed to look for novelty, madness, and the desire to thrive in their aggressive pursuit. Designed for VR players, we have developed a multiplayer competitive game based on outer space and filled with adrenal hormones, allowing players to freely use the evolution of the player-to-machine user interface that only virtual reality can provide."
