Spot price increases for DDR2 and NAND flash

Sources from the market research company inSpectrum said that a wave of price increases appeared in the DDR2 and NAND flash spot markets at the same time, due to rumors of product shortages.

Currently, the spot price of 1Gb DDR2 has increased by 1% to 1.42 US dollars. On the other hand, with the advent of Christmas and New Year, the spot market demand for DDR3 flash memory is still low, and the state of oversupply continues to affect the overall price. The current spot price of 1Gb DDR3 is an average of 1.10 US dollars, a drop of 2%.

Also in the NAND flash memory market, the spot market price of flash memory products has been rising due to the increasing demand for tablet PCs and smart phones. There are rumors that supply shortages will occur in the next month, which has caused many traders to prepare inventory in advance to cope with the shortage.

At present, the spot market price of mainstream 16Gb MLC NAND flash memory has increased by 3% to 4.25 U.S. dollars while the price of 32Gb products has increased by 1% to 6.12 U.S. dollars.
