High cost

For LED agricultural lighting sources, high prices are one of the main factors limiting their development. Compared with high-pressure sodium lamps, the cost of a 400W high-pressure sodium lamp is 200~300 yuan. The cost of a common fluorescent tube with a power of 28W is only about 20 yuan, and a white LED light source with a power of 40W needs 150~180 yuan. Although the price of LED light sources decreases linearly at a rate of 20% to 30% per year, there is still a large price gap compared with traditional light sources, which greatly limits the application and promotion of LED agricultural lighting sources.

In recent years, many domestic regions have had a lot of new chip production capacity and are currently in the construction phase. It is expected that the release of these production capacities will significantly reduce chip prices in two years time, and the high cost issue is expected to be resolved. Cost is a key factor in whether a product can have market competitiveness, but also determines whether this product can be recognized by users and whether it can occupy a certain market share.

No professional product

The agricultural LED light source is still in the stage of experimental research. There is no mature specialized product. The development and use of the light source is limited to scientific research institutes. There is no professional LED light source enterprise capable of transforming the research results into real productivity. LED technology is not fully mature yet

At present, the research has proved the feasibility of LED application in the field of agricultural lighting, but the application of agricultural LED light sources still lacks effective technical support.
