The person in charge of Toyota explained at a press conference that even if the throttle electronic control system is interfered by electromagnetic or vibration, even if there is an abnormality, it can be safely controlled, such as stopping the engine. However, it is said that because of reports of failure of electronic control systems, an external investigation agency is being commissioned for testing.
Mr. Toyoda said at the US Congress hearing scheduled from late February to early March that "North American management can answer questions from Congress. I will provide full support at the (Japan) headquarters" and said that he is not currently preparing to attend the hearing. .
Due to continuous quality problems, Toyota will hold the first meeting of the "Global Quality Special Committee" headed by President Toyoda Akio on March 30.
