ZigBee IP is based on standard network protocols such as 6LoWPAN, IPv6, PANA, RPL, TCP, TLS, and UDP, thus providing manufacturers with cost-effective and energy-efficient wireless mesh network functions. Mark Grazier, marketing manager of wireless connection solutions at Texas Instruments, pointed out that through ZigBee IP, ZigBee solutions can be connected to more low-power, low-cost wireless mesh devices based on the smart grid IPv6 protocol, thereby expanding the Internet of Things Application category.
