IHS: China's 4G smartphone shipments will increase 15 times this year

IHS expects that China's 4G smartphone shipments will reach 72.4 million units this year, nearly 15 times more than the 4.6 million units in 2013. IHS expects the 4G smartphone market to enter a rapid growth period in the second half of this year.

According to IHS, this is the second year that 4G smartphones have entered China. Two years ago, there was almost no 4G smartphone market in China.

China's 4G smartphone market will continue to grow in the next few years. It is expected that next year's shipments will double again to 144 million units, and subsequent shipments will increase by 53% to 219.8 million units. It is expected that by the end of 2017, China's 4G smartphone shipments will increase to 298.5 million units.

IHS expects total shipments of China's smartphone market to reach 371.8 million units this year, of which 4G smartphones account for only 19% of shipments. The mainstream products are still 3G smartphones, and 2G smartphones also have some markets. . It is expected that in the next two years, 3G smart phones will remain the mainstream of the Chinese smartphone market, and then its leading position will be replaced by 4G smart phones.
