OLED lighting development prospects and global patent technology situation analysis

In addition to the well-known incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, and LEDs, there is a new form of OLED, which is an organic light-emitting diode. This light source is no longer a point but a face, and it will give our designers another new design approach. At present, the application of OLED is purely extravagant, but the light it emits is very uniform and the temperature does not rise. The luminaires will get rid of the shackles of common sense and become part of the building. Because of its shape, it has got rid of all the current ideas about lighting. Perhaps in the near future, we will not open the wall but the wall with the organic diode. In the future, we will no longer be a newspaper, but an electronic paper. In a blink of an eye, it will become a computer.

Theoretically speaking, the current worldwide OLED research principle mainly uses the movement of electrons in the coating of organic light-emitting materials to excite its luminescence. This organic luminescent material is a hydrocarbon. At present, most of the powdery materials are used, and materials of different colors are passed. Meteorological deposition is carried out on glass, which is generally very thin, mostly in the nanometer range, which is 1/1000 of the hair. The service life of white light-emitting diodes can theoretically reach 10 to 20 years. Based on the current cost of materials is too expensive and the production equipment is still in the advanced manual stage, the popularity of OLED has become quite difficult.

But some experts say that OLED will enter people's daily lives in the next 6-7 years. The actual research and development situation is very unsatisfactory. To promote organic light-emitting diodes, it must be flexible and the size must be large. When the size is increased, the light is easy to be uneven, and dirty things are easy to enter. We don't even know when these dirty things are coming in, can we wash them off. We don't know how to fix it in the damaged place. If it can repair whether it can be repaired by laser, what steps are needed and how to operate it.

From the current point of view, this kind of organic light-emitting diode is used for display technology. Korea and Japan have always been far ahead. Although some companies have introduced organic light-emitting diode technology into the lighting market, there is no clear technical pattern at present, and all countries have the opportunity to have Breakthrough.

First, the working principle of OLED

OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) refers to a phenomenon in which an organic semiconductor material and a luminescent material are driven by an electric field to cause luminescence by carrier injection and recombination. The principle is to use ITO transparent electrode and metal electrode as the anode and cathode of the device respectively. Under a certain voltage, electrons and holes are injected from the cathode and the anode to the electron and hole transport layers, respectively. The electrons and holes pass through the electron and the hole respectively. The hole transport layer migrates to the light-emitting layer and meets in the light-emitting layer to form excitons and excite the light-emitting molecules, and the light-emitting molecules emit visible light through the radiation. Radiation light can be observed from the ITO side, and the metal electrode film also functions as a reflective layer. From the current technological development of organic electroluminescent devices, green light, blue light, and red light have related material development, among which green light technology is the most mature.

But for now, white light OLED is one of the most popular new technologies. The current technology is mainly implemented in the following two ways:

1) Wavelength conversion method is to use white light-emitting OLEDs to excite yellow, orange, red fluorescent or phosphorescent powder to achieve white light;

2) The color mixing method is a method of realizing white light by doping or multi-layering by using two kinds of blue and orange light compensation light or red, green and blue primary colors.

From the current technical situation, the luminous efficacy of white light OLED can reach more than 200lm / W, the specific number is still open to question. The industry goal of OLEDs in lighting applications is at 1000 cd/m2, achieving efficiencies of 50-80 lm/W. At present, the luminous efficacy of white light OLED products for illumination can reach 60 lm/W or more, and the index is about 80.
