On November 10–11, 2017, the Fujian Provincial Department of Thoracic Surgery of the Chinese Medical Association, in collaboration with the Fujian Strait Medicine Exchange Association, hosted the 2017 Annual Meeting, the 2nd Fujian Coordination Esophageal Cancer and Lung Cancer Minimally Invasive Treatment New Progress Class, and the 2nd Southeast Thoracic Surgery Forum. This event was recognized as a national continuing education project (No. 2017-04-02-09).

President Wang Tianyou, former head of the Chinese Medical Association’s Thoracic Surgeon Branch, delivered a keynote speech titled “New Age Chinese Thoracic Surgery Thinking.†He discussed how AI is reshaping surgical approaches and called for greater integration of technology into medical training and practice.
The forum was divided into three main segments: the "Teacher Lecture Hall," the "Youth Innovation Salon," and the "Hot Topic Discussion." The Teacher Lecture Hall featured experienced surgeons sharing their insights on minimally invasive techniques, while the Youth Innovation Salon provided a platform for young doctors to present their research and clinical experiences.
During the Hot Topic session, Shen Rui Medical CEO Chaucer joined a panel discussion on “Artificial Intelligence and Thoracic Surgery Tomorrow.†Qiao Wei, CEO of Deep Core Medical and an AI expert, led the conversation, exploring the application of AI in surgery, including data analysis, image recognition, and decision support systems.
