VR Needs More Sensor Quantum Dot Films

Quantum thin film technology was developed by Quantum Micro Technology, and they can be used to replace the CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) sensors that are now widely used. Quantum thin film sensors have a slimmer size, better photosensitivity, higher dynamic range and better image stability. And quantum film sensors can maintain the above advantages at higher resolutions. So what are the reasons that make quantum film have so many advantages?

If a traditional sensor (CMOS) wants to achieve high resolution under the same size, it must reduce the size of a single pixel. This can lead to a decrease in the photosensitivity of a single pixel, which in turn reduces image stability. Quantum Technology, on the other hand, uses a quantum dot material (having a fixed nanoscale size to achieve mutual conversion between light or photons at a specific wavelength through the quantum dot effect) to maintain the sensor's photosensitivity. They covered the film on a silicon wafer, making the sensor incredibly light-sensitive.

With Quantum Thin Films, camera sensors can continue to shrink in size and apply to a variety of tiny-sized products such as IoT devices, drones/vehicles, and VR glasses. Of course, this technology can be applied to any size sensor, so those traditional digital cameras can naturally benefit.

We do not know when this technology will be applied to consumer digital products. Because we are not sure whether it can be widely used, we are very much looking forward to the potential application scenario of this technology.
