Vishay's high temperature thin film resistors further expand temperature and resistance range

VISHAY Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) has recently announced the availability of its PLTT precision low TCR high-temperature thin film resistors in new package sizes including 0805, 1206, 2010, and 2512. The resistance range has been expanded to cover 250Ω up to 3MΩ, and custom resistance values can also be provided upon request. These advanced resistors are designed for use in extreme environments where stability and accuracy are critical. Operating within a wide temperature range from -55°C to +215°C, the PLTT resistor offers performance that is nearly 100°C better than traditional thin film resistors. With a standard TCR as low as ±5 ppm/°C, tolerance as tight as ±0.02%, noise levels below -35dB, and voltage coefficient as low as 0.1ppm/V, the PLTT ensures exceptional reliability in high-precision applications. The device supports power ratings between 250mW and 1000mW and can operate at voltages ranging from 100V to 200V. This makes it ideal for demanding environments such as drilling operations, high-precision oil and gas exploration, telecommunications, and industrial equipment. After 2000 hours of operation at +215°C, the resistor maintains a stable performance level of 500ppm, making it suitable for low-noise and single-signal processing systems. Constructed on a high-purity ceramic substrate, the PLTT features gold terminations (10μin to 20μin) on a nickel gate, ensuring strong adhesion during high-temperature HMP soldering. It also incorporates a corrosion-resistant special passivation method (SPM) for enhanced durability. The resistors meet stringent environmental standards, including RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC and IEC 61249-2-21, and have a UL 94 V-0 fire rating. Samples of the improved PLTT resistors are now available, with volume production already underway. Standard lead times range from ten to twelve weeks, providing flexibility for various project timelines.
