LED bulb prices fell slightly in August

According to the latest research on the retail price of LED bulbs by research institutions, in August of this year (2014), the global average price of LED bulbs that replaced 40W LED lamps showed a slight decrease of approximately 1.8% in August 2014, reaching US$14.2. The global average price of replacing 60W LED bulbs fell 0.9%, reaching 19.1 US dollars. Among them, the price drop in Japan is more obvious.

The agency said that the global average price of LED bulbs declined slightly in August and the overall trend was relatively stable. Most of the prices of these products remained stable or slightly reduced.

In place of the 40W commodity segment, the UK region’s August price fell by 4.7% in August. The original commodity prices basically showed a steady downward trend, and some commodity prices were downgraded, such as the Toshiba 7.7W bulb, which was originally priced at about US$23.6. The price fell to 12.5 US dollars. In addition, German prices in August fell by 2.6% in August, and most of the original commodity prices showed a stable or slightly downward trend. Exchange rate movements also contributed to the decline in average prices. The average price of goods that replaced 40W in Japan showed a slight increase of about 0.3%. The original part of the price of goods fluctuates slightly, and the price of new items is high, such as Mitsubishi Electric 6W bulbs, luminous flux 500LM, priced at about 17 US dollars . Average price of goods in the United States showed a slight increase of 0.9% in August. The prices of most of the original products remained basically stable. Some commodity prices were raised, such as the CREE 6W bulb, and the price in August rose from 4.97 US dollars to 8.97 US dollars.

In place of the 60W commodity segment, prices in August in Japan fell 8.5% to 16.8 U.S. dollars. The price of the original part of the goods was significantly reduced, such as Mitsubishi Electric's 11.4W light bulb, which dropped from 18.3 to about US$ 11.8 in August. In addition, exchange rate fluctuations have also led to a drop in the average price. In the United States, regional prices rose by 5.5%, the original commodity prices fluctuate, and prices of some items increased substantially, such as the Philips 11W 830LM bulb, which was raised from 7.6 to 13 US dollars this month. In August, prices in Mainland China and Taiwan showed a slight increase of 0.7% and 0.1%, respectively. The prices of the original commodities in the two regions remained stable, mainly due to the price increase caused by exchange rate changes.
