Interview with CEO ZONBO: Laser TV will surpass OLED in the future

The overthrow of traditional ways of thinking has always been the goal of revolutionaries. Today, artificial intelligence stands as a key indicator of the next era. Increasingly advanced technological innovations are reshaping our view of the world. For household settings, the TV has always been an indispensable appliance. Despite the encroachment of computers and smartphones, the TV retains its unique position. But is this the only way forward? Of course not. The emergence of the "screenless TV" is breaking the conventional boundaries of traditional televisions. This new type of TV offers a much larger virtual screen in people's minds. On July 25th, Miji Technology, the pioneer of the screenless TV, unveiled the world’s first 120-inch 4K dual-color laser screenless TV, T1. The launch of the ultra-m laser series will allow people to rediscover its charm and integrate it into their homes as a carrier of high-quality living. I also had the chance to speak with Mr. Zhong Bo, CEO of Tongji, who shared more insights into the value of screenless TVs. Replacing traditional TVs with laser-based screenless models is a gradual process, but the benefits are clear. Mr. Zhong Bo highlighted several advantages. First, in terms of pricing, a 120-inch LCD TV costs between $50,000 and $100,000, whereas the screenless option is merely a fraction of that cost. Second, in terms of image quality, the screenless TV maintains a resolution equivalent to that of a 120-inch LCD TV due to its 4K technology. Additionally, it is healthier, eco-friendly, and consumes less power. When it comes to sound quality, the audio capabilities of ultra-thin TVs fall short, something we can all agree on, as sound quality is closely linked to volume. "Furthermore, the interface of the screenless TV has been specially designed for interactions with large screens over 100 inches, while also incorporating the latest advancements in artificial intelligence," Zhong Bo continued. "So, there isn't any real reason preventing it from replacing traditional TVs. We believe this product represents the inevitable trend as 100-inch LCD TVs remain prohibitively expensive. Even a small company might have fewer than 100,000 50-inch LCD TVs, making the introduction of a large-screen laser TV a potential replacement for 100-inch LCDs. It’s not just about size; it’s about surpassing all parameters and offering a superior experience." Many manufacturers have introduced laser TVs this year, both traditional brands and internet companies, with varying price points leading to intense competition. Regarding market positioning and competitive edge, Zhong Bo noted: "We believe that products from companies like R&M and others are not directly comparable or competitive because they target different markets and have different parameter requirements. Our aim is not to chase mediocrity or settle for the lowest price point. Instead, we strive to offer the best possible product in the world. As consumer demands evolve, we aim to provide products that stand out as the ultimate choice. While this is a challenging endeavor, we are committed to it because we believe that both consumer and manufacturer mindsets need to adapt. Consumers should be confident in receiving quality, and manufacturers should aim to create the best products globally." Regarding the high-end market segment, Zhong Bo added: "Next, we plan to refine our offline systems to give consumers a hands-on experience with our products. We’ll likely showcase these experiences in home settings, including through partnerships with chain TV retailers, so people can truly appreciate how these TVs surpass LCDs and LED products. This is a significant part of our strategy moving forward. We also believe that in the future, laser TVs could surpass OLED technology." When asked about our collaboration with Baidu on AI voice interaction, Zhong Bo explained: "Baidu is a company that is committed to progress and has taken on greater social responsibilities. They are investing heavily in AI to bring it into everyday life. Choosing to partner deeply with Baidu aligns with our own mission of enhancing user experiences and envisioning future lifestyles. Our cooperation runs deep, focusing not only on current AI applications but also on pioneering ideas for future living." Our partnership involves more than just integrating AI into products. We're exploring how AI can foster emotional connections in the home, transforming devices into family members rather than mere tools. The future holds immense possibilities, and we’re excited to lead the charge in defining these innovations.
