According to the requirements of the "pre-regulation," the following tests must be conducted on circuit breaker capacitors.
1. Measurement of insulation resistance between poles.
2. Measurement of capacitance value.
3. Measurement of tan δ (dissipation factor).
4. Inspection for leakage oil.
**First, measurement of insulation resistance between poles**
This test is performed using a 2500V megohmmeter. The required insulation resistance should generally be no less than 5000 MΩ. This test is carried out every 1.3 years or during circuit breaker overhaul. It ensures that the insulation remains intact and can withstand high voltage without breakdown.
**Second, measurement of capacitance value**
The capacitance is measured using a QS1 type Schering bridge, typically with a positive wiring configuration. The deviation from the rated capacitance value should not exceed ±5%. This test is performed every 1–3 years or during overhaul. It helps verify that the capacitor is functioning correctly and has not degraded over time.
**Third, measurement of tan δ**
Again, the QS1 type Schering bridge is used, along with a positive wiring method. At 10kV, the tan δ value should not exceed 0.005 for oil-paper insulation and 0.0025 for film-paper composite insulation. This test measures the dielectric loss and helps detect any internal faults or deterioration in the insulation material. It is also conducted every 1–3 years or during maintenance.
